Our son Charlie is 5 years old and has Autism. Every day is a struggle. Part of Charlie’s Autism includes a sensory integration disorder- he is bothered easily by loud noises, easily overwhelmed by big groups of people, and is easily distressed by the way clothing, soaps, lotions, etc feel on his skin. He has struggled with sleep since he was born. Charlie has a really hard time with change as well as transitions from task to task and requires as much routine as possible. Anything that is slightly out of line with any of these areas and it will send him into severe meltdowns. We have witnessed how beneficial a dog is for Charlie to stay regulated and have been in the process to get him a service dog that can help him in the community as well as at home, and we're getting closer to having that dream come true. But we can't do it alone. Thank you!
