Child Abuse Prevention Month

Buckets is how we describe boundaries. Each individual was born to take care of their own bucket. When a child is abused either physically, verbally and especially sexually, someone else's words, treatment and desires are dumped into their bucket. Because a child is not aware of how the abuse was dumped into their bucket, they just make room for it. Over years of working around the abusive treatment in their bucket, in therapy, individuals learn how to take things out of their bucket that don't belong to them and learn how to protect their bucket by using boundaries. Individuals that have been abused struggle with boundaries because they were never treated as though they should have any. "Not in my Bucket" is a term we use to protect our bucket from others treatment, words, and opinions.
