Kadampa Family Dharma Camp 2017

Kadampa Family Dharma Camp is a special kind of experience, bringing parents and children together to learn about the teachings of the Buddha, share in the rituals of the Tibetan tradition, get to know other Buddhist families and Sangha, and have a place to talk freely about putting the dharma into practice in family life. Whether a long time practitioner or new to the Dharma, Camp can be an a rich way to experience Buddhist philosophy and values together and energize each of our individual efforts to foster these practices in our daily lives. It is a priority that each camper feel safe and peaceful while at camp. While campers may experience a special connection to Dharma and Sangha over the actual course of Camp, the experience as a whole is of even greater value as it is taken home, developed, and deepened within family practice. This year the 4th Annual Family Dharma Camp will take place over Labor Day Weekend in Black Mountain, NC. With guidance from Geshe Gelek, Family Dharma Camp 2017 will be the first in a four-year series: Practicing the Six Perfections with a Bodhichitta Attitude. Children will learn how to develop Loving Kindness and Compassion through the perfections of Generosity and Ethical Discipline. We'll learn together how to create pure motivation to give to others both teachings, love, protection and objects as well as explore what it is to protect our body, speech and mind in order to benefit others.
