Founded in 1885 by the first Dean of the Music School at DePauw University, Alpha Chi aims to “enrich the lives of members through lifetime opportunities for friendship, leadership, learning, and service." The sorority’s official symbol is a three-stringed lyre, which was chosen due to the founder’s interest in music.
