BAM Tournament

"Youth Guidance's B.A.M. (Becoming A Man)- is a school based counseling, mentoring, violence prevention and educational enrichment program that promotes social, emotional and behavioral competencies in at- risk male youth. B.A.M- addresses six core values: integrity, accountability, self-determination, positive anger expression, visionary goal setting and respect for women, as each value relates to personal and academic success. On Saturday April 4th more than 60 BAM (Becoming A MAN) students from Fenger. Douglas and Manley high schools joined forces with the Chicago Police Department for a basketball tournament! The event was held to help foster positive relations between the community and police. CPD Superintendent Garry McCarthy urged students to keep striving in school and in life. "We need more of these events," he stated. Also in attendance were U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Zachary Fardon and Fenger HS Principal Elizabeth Dozier. Special thanks to all participants for pulling together for Chicago's youth! " - https://fenger.shutterfly.com/ - (Apr 08, 2015)
