Egg Drop at I'm a Complex Kid! (ICK!) Science Fair

"On Saturday, April 24th numerous children in grades K-6 from around the Binghamton, NY area gathered at the Center of Excellence (COE) at Binghamton University for a day of scientific exploration, learning, and fun! 2016 marked the 10th year that the Binghamton student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) has hosted their annual 'I'm a Complex Kid!' (ICK!) event. The group recruited volunteers to help operate various stations where they would engage with children who rotated to a new station at regular time intervals. Participants either enrolled in a morning session from 9am-1pm or afternoon session from 2pm-6pm. During both sessions, children participated in activities such as the egg drop, wind-powered vehicles, or potions lab while engaging in scientific learning in an engaging way. The event was a huge success for the group financially and provided an opportunity for students of the university to interact with members and children of the surrounding area.
