"The Jake Nielsen Tribute was held on March 22nd, 2014 at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond, Va. It was a 3 hr music concert put on by his Richmond School of Rock youth students to honor all the love, work, mentoring & support he had given to them over the last 10 years. Jake passed away suddenly, at the age of 40, from complications of a minor outpatient surgery. He left behind a wife and three children. The concert also included a slide show of past School of Rock performances and a video tribute to Mr. Jake, including interviews from the students and his family. The event was held as a way to honor him and as a fundraiser for the family he left behind. Many businesses in the community supported the event by donating goods or services to raffle or auction off in his honor. Although this photo is NOT a group photo, it was one of many that we received from all over the country from friends & family, who were supporting our local fundraising event for this amazing man, even though they could NOT be in town in person. They ordered shirts and wore them the same day as a show of solidarity. This year would have been his 10th anniversary as founder of The Richmond School of Rock. He was looking forward to doing something really special. The kids made his vision a reality with their tribute to him. "
