"Katie is my younger sister that passed away a little over a year ago from epilepsy. Her passing was very unexpected and shocking to our family. I hope to someday fully accept the reality of my sisters passing but I will never be over it. Katie was an organ donor and in her death she saved the lives of 5 people she doesn't know and will never meet. The company that coordinates the donation of organs from donors and the receiving of them for recipients is called Intermountain Donor Services and this is who we used to donate Katie's organs. One of the things that they do to honor the donors and recipients is have their names engraved on a monument that they have in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The reason that we are having the Team Katie shirts printed is because when we go to the ceremony that they are having on the 20th of this month we wanted all of the members of her immediate to go and support her by wearing matching shirts. "
