Science Leadership Corps Students Shoot for the Stars!

"As part of a program run jointly by Adler Planetarium and After School Matters, the Science Leadership Corps trains high school students to create science experiments that are flown on a high altitude balloon mission to the stratosphere, 80,000+ feet above the surface of the Earth. On August 1, 2014, the SLC students launched, flew, and tracked their balloon payload as it sailed over northeastern Illinois. At approximately 84,000 feet, the balloon burst, and the payload returned to Earth under a parachute, gliding to a landing in a soybean field. This picture was taken just after Adler Planetarium staff, volunteers, interns, an After School Matters instructor, and the SLC students recovered their experiments - and we are all pointing to where our balloon came from...UP! All in all, it was a fantastic day! We can't wait to see how the experiments turned out! We wouldn't have looked nearly as spiffy without our fantastic Custom Ink t-shirts. The ordering process could not have been easier. After I placed the order, it was quickly checked by Custom Ink artists, and once I confirmed the order, we had our shirts in less than a week...which was a week earlier than promised. Custom Ink kept us informed all along the way, and I will not hesitate to order from Custom Ink again! Great prices, great service, and a phenomenal product. Thanks, Custom Ink!" - http://www.adlerplanetarium.org - Far Horizons! (Aug 04, 2014)
