"A group of students participated in the Couch to 5K training program for 9 weeks. We then had a 5K race at our school, which was open to anyone from the school and community. The picture is of the students who both did the training program and participated in the race. For most students, this was their first running event. Everyone did a great job!"

Our team, Carmen's Crew, consisted of all of the members shown and raced for various people whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. Our team name, and our shirts, are in honor of my Mother, Carmen Henderson, whose life was cut short by stage IV breast cancer in July of 2011. "We're just a group of girlfriends living in Denver who love to have FUN! This pic was taken just after we crossed the finish line at the SHAPE Magazine Diva Dash in Boulder on May 4, 2013. "I'm a young survivor of breast cancer, 30 years old, and this was our first year of running the Susan G. Komen 5k. I'm there with my pink survivor medal and a few of my teammates. It was amazing and giving that we live in our nations capital, and our hockey team's slogan is 'Rock the Red;' it was only fitting to 'Rock the Rack' for breast cancer research, awareness, in support of survivors and honorees everywhere!
