"My mother, Gaga (so named by my daughter as a baby...she loved the name so it stuck!) was diagnosed in March with lung and brain cancer. She has been undergoing chemo treatments ever since. Needless to say, it's been pretty rough for her, healthwise. In September of this year, the company I work for sponsored a 5K walk/run in Overland Park, KS. We knew right away that we needed to participate in this walk. It was not hard to get a large team together of people who love Gaga and wanted to support her as she battles her illness. Also, the walk happened to fall on the same date as Gaga and Grandad's 40th wedding anniversary! It was a joyous day all around. We raised over $2700 as a team which all goes toward brain cancer research. But what topped the day off was that Gaga was there to surprise our team, finish the walk with us, and cross the finish line! (Gaga is in the green shirt and Grandad is standing to her left.)
