"This was our fourth year in the American Cancer Society's, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Portland Oregon. We were so proud to have custom team shirts this year (this was a first for our team). We also met our team fundraising goal this year (another first). Each team member had their own reason for walking. But we were all there with the same goal in mind. "
"On January 21, 2013, my father passed away suddenly from complications from lung cancer. I had planned to run the Rock n Roll New Orleans Half Marathon on February 24, 2013. The race benefits the American Cancer Society and I decided to run In Memory of my Dad. Three of my best childhood friends, who knew my dad well, decided to run the race with me so I had the shirts made up for all of us to wear. It was fantastic! My first half marathon and I had such great support and the whole while running for my dad. "
"This past November we lost our sister, cousin and friend, Lindsay, after a courageous 2 year battle with colon cancer. The story behind our team name: Throughout her fight with cancer, Lindsay not only had a great attitude, she had a great sense of humour. After her surgery to remove her tumour, she nicknamed it "The Beast" and growing up, a common Sunday dinner in our family was roast beef. With her friends knowledge of Sunday Dinners and Lindsay naming her tumour "The Beast", the "The Roast Beasts" were created. We designed these shirts for this years Relay for Life and had them personalized with the nicknames that Lindsay had given us over the years. We chose blue as that is the colour of the colon cancer ribbon. "
