"The American Cancer Society hosts Relay for Life events throughout the country to raise awareness and funds for cancer. At this first time event in Clarksburg, MD, we formed "Team Sam I Am" to honor Sam (pictured second from left) a 13-year old who is fighting brain cancer. We really stood out in our safety green shirts as we walked the track all through the night - if Sam and his family have to go through this battle with cancer, we can stay up all night and walk and raise money for cancer. Our team won with the highest amount of donations, and Sam is still going strong to this day!"
"On October30th, our awesome team, Coach Hink's All-Stars, raised over $7,500 for The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter and was the top family team at the Frederick, Maryland, Walk to Defeat ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease)!!! We walked in memory of our dad, Jim Hinkle, and Helen Johnson (mom of Megan Johnson, Karin Mastrangelo, and Shannon Woodward), both lost to ALS. "This is a photo of my sister Ginny who is currently going through chemo for Breast cancer and my mother Ruthanna who is a Breast cancer survivor. They were doing the survivor lap at the Breast Cancer walk at Hagerstown Community College, in Hagerstown Maryland.
