With video, you can capture the attention of others, raise awareness, and ultimately, raise more support for your cause.<\/p>\n<p>People are scared by how much time and effort making a video takes, but today I\u2019m going to walk you through how to quickly and easily shoot your own success story video using just your smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>There are <strong>4 key steps<\/strong> to shooting your own video:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Write your story<\/li>\n<li>Setup for recording<\/li>\n<li>Record<\/li>\n<li>Edit and share<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Write Your Story<\/h3>\n<p>The first thing you should do is write out your story in your own words.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you\u2019ve included the five Ws:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who you are<\/li>\n<li>Where you\u2019re located<\/li>\n<li>When you launched your campaign<\/li>\n<li>Why you started your Fundraiser<\/li>\n<li>What impact your Fundraiser had<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Be sure to talk in detail about who or what you raised money for and your personal connection with them &#8211; this is what makes your story <em>so powerful<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Setup for Recording<\/h3>\n<p>The first thing you need is a room that has lots of indirect light and no noise. Setting up next to a window that\u2019s facing either north or south will create a very flattering light on your face.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also best to be in a room that has many soft things, like padded chairs, pillows, and blankets. These soft objects will help to absorb noise as you speak so your voice echoes less.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/soft.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2501\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/soft.jpg\" alt=\"soft\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to holding and positioning your phone, your best option is to use a tripod. If you want, you can get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/LimoStudio-Monopod-Tripod-Samsung-AGG1462\/dp\/B00PBCBZJ2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tripod mount<\/a> made specifically for holding phones, or you can make it work with some tape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/phone_mount.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2500\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/phone_mount.jpg\" alt=\"phone_mount\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another option, if you can\u2019t get a tripod, is to stack some books to raise your phone, then hold it between two books at the top. It won\u2019t look pretty, but it should get the job done.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/phone_books.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2499\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/phone_books.jpg\" alt=\"phone_books\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the room ready and camera setup, it\u2019s time for you to get in front of the camera. You want to be as close to the camera as possible for the best audio recording, but far enough away that you feel and look comfortable on camera &#8211; around 2-3 feet away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/distance.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2495\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/distance.jpg\" alt=\"distance\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Have someone adjust the camera so that you\u2019re in the center. They should also make sure that you don\u2019t have too much space above your head. Some &#8211; but not too much.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final_shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2498\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/final_shot.jpg\" alt=\"final_shot\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Record<\/h3>\n<p>One last thing before you start recording &#8211; have your camera person press and hold down on your face on the screen. In virtually all current smartphones, this will lock the exposure and focus so that the look of your video stays consistent while recording.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/exposure.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2497\" src=\"http:\/\/www.customink.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/exposure.jpg\" alt=\"exposure\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now you\u2019re all set to record your story &#8211; just hit the big red button!<\/p>\n<h3>Edit and Share<\/h3>\n<p>After you\u2019re finished recording, you should be able to trim the beginning and end of your videos.
