The program ran their 2nd annual basketball camp at Monsignor Scanlan Highschool in the Bronx, N.Y. Nearly doubling enrollment from last years event, the kids received free instruction on fundamental basketball drills from the men and women basketball teams at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Like last year the day was filled with basketball drills and stations, along with our annual discussion of our motto &#8216;Be You Stay True&#8217;. Where the coaches shared personal stories of their basketball upbringing and how they were challenged with being themselves as young kids. Following were competitions, games, and an award ceremony for the children who received certificates, shirts, and other prizes. This was taken before our first game of the season. When we first got to the game location, the boys were a little nervous, but soon the other teams noticed how great we looked in matching sweatshirts. We heard others saying &#8216;wow&#8217; and &#8216;they look tough!&#8217; Then something magical happened, the boys grew more confident and began chanting &#8216;Grizzlies.&#8217; Even one player from our team said &#8216;I really feel like a team because we have matching sweatshirts on!&#8217; None of the other teams had sweatshirts. Before I knew it the other coaches were complementing the sweatshirts and asking where we got them.
