Our Story

Amani Orphanage is an orphanage in Tanzania that provides food, shelter, medicine, and care for over forty children between the ages of 4 to 12. Join us in fundraising half of the orphanages yearly budget in our summer fundraiser - together we can make a difference and help the Children of Amani live and learn.

With the purchase of a shirt, you'll help to cover the costs of oil, food, clothing and other basic supplies. Your donation would also support our goal of adding a dining hall with proper furniture (benches, and tables) for the children to eat in! As well as our longer term goals of adding a nurse’s office for medical care and a computer lab in which we can set up donated laptops to utilize the internet, both as a tool for the children’s education and the staff’s communication. Remember, pledges could be used to help cover the education of a child, and make his or her dreams come true!

Please contact Kate Thompson with any questions you have - and be sure to check out our Facebook page as well.

Shirts will arrive approximately 2 weeks after the closing date.

“Amani” is the Kiswahili word for “peace.”

1 Peter 1:2 pray to God that “grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” Likewise, the faculty and staff of Amani Orphanage seek to bless the lives of children with love, security encouragement and peace.

Amani Orphanage is a Christian organization established in 2009. It was formally known as the “Kigongoni Orphanage.” This orphanage originally was home to four boys and six girls. god blessed to Orphanage abundantly and over the years expanded its mission! Today, forty children from ages 3 to 12 call this orphanage home. Children here are from diverse religious backgrounds (some are Christian, Muslim or have no affiliation at all), and all tribes and religions are welcome and loved! Many children have parents who died from HIV/AIDS, and though the children are healthy themselves they have suffered much poverty and hardship during their lives.

Now relocated and newly constructed, Amani Orphanage provides a home for these children. a home means many things: provision of food health care and basic needs; supervision and guidance; encouragement on school work and a love community of peers and adults. This children live at Amani, and together we can help them live in peace!
