About this campaign

We are relaunching thisfundraiserfor everyone who has asked where they can purchase a t-shirt or make adonation. **PLEASE NOTE t-shirts ordered through this campaignWILL NOTarrive in time forthe walk on May 14th!

Please join us for our second annual Brain Tumor Awareness Walk! Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. We'll gatheron the Town Green in Suffield, CT. at 10:00,walk to a turn around point at Tom and Nikki Deupree's home on Main Street and end back on the Town Green. The walk is approximately 2 miles.

On April 6, 2015 our lives were changed forever. Rick had a grand mal seizure and was unexpectedly diagnosed with a largeOligodendroglioma brain tumor. He underwent a 7 hour biopsy surgery in April and a 10 hour awake craniotomy in July. The tumor was partially resected but because of the size and location much of it was inoperable. He is currently completing cognitive rehabilitation therapies and undergoing a 12 month chemotherapy regimen. Once he completes chemo, he'll begin a "wait and watch" process where the tumor is left untreated and monitored by MRI scans every 2 months. If the tumor shows any signs of growth, we will work with his team of doctors to decide on the next course of action.

This has not been aneasy journey. It is important to us to spread awareness, support others who have been effected by a brain tumor diagnosis, and always try to remain hopeful. The amount of money we raise depends on how many t-shirts we sell and donations made. The funds raised will be allocated to two different causes.A portionof the money will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society's Oligo Reseach Fund, which specifically allocates funding for Oligodendroglioma Brain Tumor research. Oligodendroglioma is a relatively rare brain tumor representing about 6% of gliomas, with a diagnosis rate of about 1,150 patients a year in the U.S. Critical research is required to deliver oligo patients, like Rick, new therapies that are more durable and extend their lives. The rest of the money will be gifted to the brave people that we've met along the way who are also battling a brain tumor diagnosis and/or raising awareness and funding for the brain tumor community.

We will be combining the $4014.44 raised from the firstfundraiser with any new funds raisedfrom this new campaign.Once the campaign closes, we will announce a grand total and informeveryone where each dollar raised is being donated.

My mother (Theresa Minoudakis) lost her battle with a brain tumor at age 55 in 1976. Within 2 weeks of her diagnosis she was gone. I am glad to be able to support this cause in memory of my mom and also in support of Rick and Jamie.
