Dysautonomia (including POTS, NCS, etc.) is a chronic and often invisible illness that is "masked in mystery." Although most forms of dysautonomia are not rare, they is widely unknown to many medical professionals and to society at large, often creating a delay in diagnosis and misunderstanding by society. Some of the symptoms of dysautonomia are printed on back of the t-shirt on top of fingerprint images.
Dysautonomia is caused by a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). Symptoms vary greatly and range from mild to extremely debilitating. Since 1999, DYNA has been invaluable in spreading awareness and accurate info about dysautonomia conditions while passionately supporting those affected. The sale of these t-shirts will help DYNA continue its great mission.
The phrase "Masked in Mystery" describes several mysterious elements of dysautonomia. For example, the seemingly unrelated symptoms can leave doctors and patients stumped before they finally discover the diagnosis. Doctors and researchers are working to find the exact causes of dysautonomia, why some patients respond to specific treatments while others do not, etc. Additionally, patients sometimes feel "as though they are wearing a mask" as they attempt to maintain a "normal" lifestyle while dealing with symptoms that others cannot see and may not understand.
Dysautonomia is an umbrella medical term utilized for a group of complex conditions that are caused by a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS regulates all of the unconscious functions of the body, including the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, metabolic system, and endocrine system. A dysfunction of the ANS can cause debilitating symptoms and may pose significant challenges for effective medical treatment. The symptoms of dysautonomia conditions are usually “invisible” to the untrained eye. The manifestations are occurring internally, and although the symptoms are verified medically they are often not visible on the outside.
DYNA is currently the only 501(c) (3) non-profit specifically existing for youth and young adults with dysautonomia. DYNA's mission is to foster awareness, support, and a better understanding of dyautonomia conditions in the community as well as to encourage compassionate care, efficient diagnosis, reliable treatment, and research of dysautonomia conditions. In it's 17 years of existence, DYNA has been successfully carrying out that mission, touching and changing the lives of thousands worldwide.
DYNA fully depends on individual donations and member-led fundraisers in order to exist. Please consider purchasing a shirt and/or making a donation so that DYNA’s can continue to network medical professionals, advance the research and treatment of dysautonomia conditions, influentially advocate on behalf of all dysautonomia patients, serve patients and to inspire youth onset/young adult patients to continue to pursue their life’s goals and desires.

My daughter has been part of DYNA for over 10 years. She has greatly benefited from DYNA; their education of the kids is way beyond what we've ever gotten from a doctor's office. Anyone with a child or youth with dysautonomia needs to check them ou
