About this campaign
The Scramble Against Cancer is hosted by the Austin Firefighter's Relief and Outreach Fund. The Austin Firefighters Relief and Outreach Fund is a 501c3 volunteer organization that started in January of 2002 which helps firefighters and other public safety employees, their families, along with residents of the Austin area who have suffered from a catastrophe or a major injury or illness. All money raised by the Golf Scramble Against Cancer will be earmarked to specifically help Austin firefighters battle cancer. Unfortunately, firefighters suffer a much higher rate of cancer than the average citizen. Which is why this fund is vitally important to our local heroes, and the people who depend on them.
This event began in 2016, after Austin Firefighter Ryan Endicott was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ryan is a Marine Corp veteran, father, husband, and a dedicated public servant. Many of Ryan's brothers and sisters in the fire department knew they needed to help, so the Scramble Against Cancer was born. Not only was the event a huge success, but Ryan beat his cancer. The funds raised from our event helped Ryan and his family pay for life-saving treatment.https://www.facebook.com/firefightergolf/
