Best Buddies is expanding to Minnesota!

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

On November 16th, Best Buddies Minnesota is hosting their Inaugural Champion of the Year Gala, honoring 15 Champions with their Campaign Managers who are leading the way to opening a state office in Minnesota to further inclusion. This year’s Champion of the Year Gala will ignite the land of 10,000 lakes and help light the way to 100,000 friendships for individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.All funds raised through this event will go directly to the Best Buddies Minnesota Expansion Initiative to establish a state office by January 2019. With an office in place and staff on the ground, Best Buddies will grow one-to-one friendship programs in Minnesota’s schools, establish a jobs program to support competitive employment and start a leadership development program for individuals with IDD. With this full scope of programming in place, Best Buddies will take one step closer to ending the physical, social and economic isolation of one of the most disenfranchised group of people in our world today.
