About this campaign

Help raise funds for the first Black Maternal Health exhibit in Spokane, WA. We will be creating photos and art to share the sacred stories of women who have given birth in Spokane locally and nationally with a doula. At this exhibit we will be sharing and educating the community about strategies to help decrease the health crisis impacting black women.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, "Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women. Multiple factors contribute to these disparities, such as variation in quality healthcare, underlying chronic conditions, structural racism, and implicit bias. Social determinants of health have historically prevented many people from racial and ethnic minority groups from having fair opportunities for economic, physical, and emotional health."

Purchase a shirt and help us build our current and future events to educate our community and others about community action we can take together to make a difference. Let’s crush the crisis to make change for everyone. Birth is a human right and let’s change how we are thinking about how children are coming into our community.

Things to know… These images are donated by artists, doulas and mother’s. Our goal is to have the exhib open for 3- 5 days for the community. We would like to provide educational content for the community to learn about black maternal health and to introduce the new House Bill 1881 that just passed that will provide access to doula’s to women who use medicaid.
