We are so excited to have another fabulous MLK Community Parade T-Shirt featuring a design by the incredibly talented Amira Hegazy.
Order your shirt by 12-24-2019 to receive it in time for the parade on 1-20-2020! All colors have Adult sizes, for Youth sizes choose Sports Grey, Iris, or Heliconia. You may choose to have it delivered to you, or to CARE for pickup in the days before the parade. (We will also extend the campaign beyond 12-24, but those orders won't arrive before parade.) CARE is a registered 501(c)(3) and all profits from t shirt sales goes toward funding the upcoming MLK Day Parade. Once we raise the amount needed for the parade, additional profit from shirt sales goes toward the annual Latinx and Pride Festivals and other CARE initiatives. Thank you so much for your support!
CARE (http://carerockbridge.org/) was founded in the spring of 2016 to serve Lexington and the surrounding area. Our mission is to speak out against racism in all its forms, especially those that impact members of our community in Lexington, Virginia and Rockbridge County.
Our first rally was held in response to KKK flyers being distributed in our community. We gathered to take a stand against racism and to show solidarity with our neighbors of color. In 2017, we organized Lexington, Virginia's first ever Community MLK Day Parade. We have held a MLK Parade every January since then and have grown to also co-sponsor annual Latinx Festivals and the first ever Pride Festival in Rockbridge County. When needed, we gather publicly to hold rallies, vigils, and parades allowing our community to disavow racism, celebrate greater diversity and encourage inclusivity in our cities, county, and neighborhoods.
In the fall of 2019, CARE received official 501(c)(3) status. CARE is a nonprofit run entirely by volunteers from the local community. We take a holistic approach, advocating that the body of the community is made stronger when we strengthen each of its members. CARE celebrates the joy of inclusive community.
