About this campaign

Every child deserves a college dream. Unfortunately, for many of our students in Santa Clara County, this dream seems out of reach.

Only 41% of Santa Clara County high school students take the a-g requirements that will allow entry into the UC/CSU system. Even worse, only 18% of our Latino students and 25% of our African American complete those requirements. College Day’s seeks to change these statistics. As a community, we cannot afford to have so few students college-ready. Now in its fourth year, College Day provides the tools and resources to teachers and other caring adults to create a community where every child will have a college dream. Help us build a college-going culture by purchasing a College Day t-shirt. Your support is vital and will help make this year's College Day the most successful yet. College Day's volunteer committee hopes to raise $22,000. All money raised will be for College Day posters, wristbands, pencils, and promotional materials that enhance the schools’ work to create a college-going culture. Our theme this year is Destination: College, and our tagline is “Reach Higher. Own Your Future!” Materials will feature both. 100% of all donations are tax-deductible and a practical investment in our community. Prior year sponsors include Applied Materials, City of San Jose, San Jose State University, Synopsis, the Shortino Family Foundation and individual donors. All kids deserve a chance not only to go to college, but TO KNOW that it is a real possibility. That's what College Day does.

Post-secondary education and training gives youth a chance to explore their their passions and push their limits and should be available to everyone. Many qualified students view college as outside the realm of their reality.
