We have made and tested over 300 compounds so far with many showing antimalarial activity. By using digestion and derivative isolation techniques, we have seen upwards of 20% increases in potency from initial testing - 10% increases from this will give us compounds potent enough to treat Malaria. We have another 40 compounds ready for testing. Now, with the COVID-19 pandemic raging and the link to antimalarials and COVID-19 treatment successes, we have temporarily shifted focus and will be testing our compounds against COVID-19 standards for activity. Structural relationships suggest potential COVID-19 activity for some of our compounds and these will be tested first. In addition, we are rigorously pursuing new compounds with modified structures similar to know COVID-19 active compounds such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.
