Vaginismus awareness

Vaginismus is a condition where there is involuntary tightness of the vagina during attempted intercourse. The tightness is actually caused by involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles surrounding the vagina. Vaginismus is a REAL condition many women deal with. In some cases vaginismus tightness may begin to cause burning, pain, or stinging during intercourse. In other cases, penetration may be difficult or completely impossible. Vaginismus is the main cause of unconsummated relationships. I have dealt with vaginismus for over 2 years (first year was horrible). I can't begin to explain the pain and frustration one faces when they can't consummate their marriage. Unfortunately, many people deal with this issue but it's rarely talked about. The first year of my marriage I felt, alone, scared and outright depress. Vaginismus is often misdiagnosed (which make it worst), I spent so much money on procedures (surgery, OT, yoga...you name it, I did it). I finally was properly diagnosed:-)! My goal is to raise money and go to a professional (unfortunately my insurance does not cover Vaginismus procedures).
