About this campaign
What is a Hate Free Zone?
A Hate Free Zone enables our humanity, our inherent kindness and compassion for each other, to shine. A Hate Free Zone is built by our communities, for our communities. In a Hate Free Zone, we look out for one another. We love and protect each other. We do not let each other be targeted or separated by hateful policies and practices. In particular, we move to protect those of us at the frontline of these attacks: our undocumented folks, workers, immigrants, women, and our Muslim, Black, LGBTQ, and young folks. We organize to defend our communities from workplace raids, deportations, mass criminalization, violence, and systemic violation of our rights and dignity.

Hate Free Zone is a thriving, community-driven initiative that was established in December 2016. Launched in the neighborhoods of Queens, New York, USA, the project envisions building a community defense system that will allow us to defend our communities from workplace raids, deportations, mass criminalization, violence, and systemic violation of our rights and dignity.
Hate Free Zone continues to develop through strong alliances with those that recognize they benefit from certain privilege (for example, economic privilege, race, US citizenship, gender, etc.). HFZ Allies (including individual community members, local businesses, faith institutions, and elected officials) take up meaningful work within the campaign, following the lead of members of the frontline communities.
Core Partner Organizational Members: Adhikaar, Damayan Migrant Workers Association, DRUM - Desis Rising Up & Moving (Anchor Organization), GAP - Global Action Project, IMI/Centro Corona - Immigrant Movement International, JFREJ - Jews for Racial & Economic Justice, Justice Committee, QNU - Queens Neighborhoods United, and Ugnayan Youth for Justice & Social Change.
