Bushy Hill Nature Center, a program of Incarnation Center in Ivoryton, CT, works to inspire people of all ages to connect with the environment through hands-on experiential learning, while working together to build a stronger community with respect for the natural world.
Incarnation Center is a wonderful place to visit and explore. Over the past 30 years our nature center, Bushy Hill, has enriched the lives of people of all ages through summer camp, school field trips, educational programs, community workshops, and our farm programs. The 700+ acres of Incarnation Center offer a wide variety of terrain to explore; including a white cedar swamp, miles of hiking trails running through our beautifully forested areas, a ropes course with dozens of elements, functional tipi and wigwam sites, a mile-long lake, and a farm featuring a variety of animals. In our nature center you will find hands-on exhibits, a diversity of live animals, and a classroom for school programs and workshops.
Throughout the year, we work with students of all ages through our educational programs. Our knowledgeable staff teaches indigenous studies, team building, maple sugaring, wetlands studies, home school science, and offers a wide variety of nature-based community workshops and classes. We are continually expanding our programming and events to meet the needs of our community. Currently, we are developing new school programs to assist school districts in meeting the goals of the CORE, NGSS and Connecticut Science Curriculum Standards both in the classroom and on-site.
Bushy Hill offers a variety of summer day camp programs for youth ages 4-16. Our camp program is continually recognized for its commitment to excellence. Led by our experienced staff, children of all ages spend their summer days exploring the natural world, learning important life skills, gaining a sense of community and making friendships that last a lifetime.
Bushy Hill at Incarnation is truly a unique place that we encourage you to explore. Bushy Hill is a program of Incarnation Center, an independent nonprofit affiliated with the Episcopal Church and open to all. Incarnation, established in 1886, is the oldest continuously operating camp in America.
