About this campaign

In order to keep monitoring these amazing cats in the Porto Jofre region we need some support. The Jaguar Identification Project is here to fill the gap by providing solutions to identifying and protecting different jaguars, their habitat and fighting against cruel and inhumane killings of jaguars. Jaguar Identification Project will continue to monitor the population dynamics of America's only large cat and pursue its goal of continuing the collection of data using research methods that are non-invasive to the species. However this require funds to carry out research actions and purchase pieces of equipment needed such as camera traps, boat fuel and accommodation fees.

The Jaguar Identification Project (JIP) is a non-profit organization that uses citizen science, camera trap and observational data to carry out research and conservation actions for jaguars in the Brazilian Pantanal. Founded in 2015 JIP has built a cohesive database containing over 285 individual jaguars residing in the northern Pantanal region of Porto Jofre, Mato Grosso. Each year we closely monitor this unique population learning new insights on jaguar demographics while looking at the dynamics of the growing wildlife ecotourism the jaguars are bring to the local economy.
