The Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association, CHASA, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, young adults, and families affected by pediatric stroke and other causes of hemiplegic cerebral palsy. CHASA was founded in 1996 by two mothers of babies  - a boy and a girl - who had strokes before they were born. CHASA provides support, education, and advocacy through a national family retreat, local groups, online discussion groups, orthotic grants, CHASA Cares program, college and vocational school scholarships, athletic scholarships, and pediatric stroke and hemiplegia research support.
