Joey-Bun is a 3-year-old Dutchie who is small in stature, but EXCEPTIONALLY large in heart – literally.

Joey’s family was unable to care for him and hence surrendered him to SBAB.  He suffers from an extremely enlarged heart and an accompanying Stage 5 heart murmur – “the loudest heart murmur ever heard” by our veterinarians.

Joey is a SUPER-sweet, happy and affectionate bun who LOVES to receive – and to give! – attention!  He will even climb up and settle right into your lap! He wants so badly to be active, though – to hop and to zoom and to binky – but we are required to thwart his efforts at every turn due to his serious condition.

While he cannot be neutered (this would be much too dangerous considering everything going on in that little 4-pound body with the too-big heart!), he IS in desperate need of an echocardiogram (~$600), so we can determine the appropriate treatment/meds to keep him regulated and comfortable (and hey – maybe even a little more active!)
