About this campaign

As a fellow j-poucher, when I heard the news that Darrell Henry was going to have to battle cancer again, I knew I had to do something to show my love and support. Since he is a runner, and part non-human, I thought it would be nice to gather others to run and show our support for him. I had such an overwhelming, positive response to the thought, that I began working with Carol Leimbach to make it an official event.

In addition, I learned that our dear colleague has to travel for his doctor appointments and does not get paid sick leave. We have all been through the ringer at some point and know how difficult it can be when we lose income due to our medical emergencies. For that reason, we would love to add a fundraising piece to the virtual run. Of course, we do not want to put any pressure for you to donate financially. In fact, I know Darrell appreciates even just a short run. So to aid in raising money, we have come up with the following options:

1) You can order a shirt from the following website. Our rad member Chrissie Turner designed it.

2) Or if you have paypal, you can donate directly by going to www.paypal.com, and sending money to the following email address : jpoucherssufferfest@gmail.com. Any amount would be amazing and extremely helpful.

AND dont you worry your pretty little faces off! All money received is going directly to Darrell for him to use towards his medical expenses.

SO.... Please join us in celebrating our dear friend by running either a 5K or 5 miles on Saturday, December 6th. Post a picture of your run and tag #sufferfest14.

I was Darrell's art teacher in jr. high and high school. I know he's tough, but I love how he sees through his pain to recognize the beauty of his surroundings. I love his photography.

Many of my friends and loved ones are either battling cancer or have lost their battle to cancer. This is an insidious disease, a cure must be found for all cancer types so that we can live in a cancer-free world.
