About this campaign

The 8th annual G. Michael Perry Memorial Softball Tournament for the Special Olympians of Wyoming will be held on August 15, 2015, in Casper! The GMP Tournament had its inaugural year in 2008. The one-day tournament is designed to support and encourage the athletes of Special Olympics Wyoming to participate in healthy and competitive games of softball. This fun, double-elimination style tournament is held in memory of Mike Perry—loving husband, father, and coach. Mike sat on the Special Olympics Wyoming Board of Directors and coached both swimming and softball for Casper athletes. He encouraged all athletes to always try their hardest and HAVE FUN!

Personal note from Elisabeth Perry:

Special Olympics Wyoming continues to offer "America's Favorite Pastime" in its sporting program through the Mike Perry Tournament and because of the support of generous sponsors like you. When I first organized this event in 2008, I named the event in memory of my dad, because he loved the game, loved the athletes, and believed in making a difference in his community.

It costs about $2k to host the tournament, and I could really use your help in raising as much as possible towards that this year. The difference between funds raised and expenses incurred will be paid out-of-pocket by me, so please help! :)

I can't adequately describe to you the spirit and excitement displayed by the athletes on the day of the tournament, and when I see what a positive experience this is for the athletes each year, when the thank you's from the parents role in with the hugs from the athletes, it renews my sense that this tournament is an event well worth its while. And it's all thanks to you.
