About this campaign
While there are many fantastic rescue organizations in and around Moore County in North Carolina, Adopt4Love Pets Inc.has targeted two types of dogs that often find themselves in the county shelter. Bully breeds (including Pitbulls, Staffordshire Terriers, Bulldogs, Mastiffs, and many combinations) and Chihuahuas are the two most euthanized breeds in the nation. Our area is no different. Due to over breeding, backyard breeding, and loose laws governing spaying and neutering pets, we are flooded with these animals in our county shelter. Kris and Ken Key have focused on rescuing these dogs and have a love for taking in the "unadoptables." This fundraiser is meant to support their efforts in order to continue saving those in need. While my story is not important, I believe it is important to share some of the animals that have been saved through valiant efforts made by volunteers and rescuers alike. I got involved in volunteering at our county shelter through an event held on the campus where I work. The more I learned about the overpopulation and number of animals dropped off at our county shelter, the harder it was to turn away. Is it difficult to volunteer each week and not bring every animal home? Yes! Is it heartbreaking to leave them each week at the shelter? Of course. However, it is important to remember the many success stories that have come from spending time with the animals, and marketing in order to get them adopted. Diva is one of the most famous and well-loved dogs to come from the county shelter.Her attitude is equal to her size as she truly"reigned" over the play yard on her "throne." Yes,it may have been just a plastic chair, but it made no difference to the Queen. Having been adopted and then returned, a group of volunteers along with Adopt4Love Pets sponsored her boarding fees in order to take her from the shelter. After many months of searching for the perfect family, she has finally found a forever home. While the road to freedom is often difficult for these animals (and those who love them!), it is all worthwhile to know that saving even one life can make a difference.
