Prayers for Pulse

I am in no way directly affiliated with Pulse Night Club or the tragic events that took place early Sunday morning, June 12th, 2016, however this massacre has shaken me to my very core. I am deeply saddened and outraged by this senseless act. Whether it was fueled by hatred or terrorism, the more pressing fact is that now more than 50 families are having to prepare to make funeral arrangements for their loved ones. Additionally, a staple in the LGBTQ- Orlando community has been forever changed.

Pulse was co-founded by Barbara Poma in 2004 in honor of her brother John, who died from AIDS 13 years earlier. Pulse Night Club was more than just a night club. It was a safe haven where individuals could come and be themselves; free, without fear of hatred or persecution. Pulse was a huge supporter of the Barber Fund (Cancer survivor charity), LGBTQ youth groups, and also helped to fundraise and raise awareness for individuals with AIDS.  

I am a huge LGBTQ supporter. My daughter's godparents are two of the most wonderful people I've ever met, and just so happen to also be gay. I am also a mother. My heart weeps for the families in Orlando who have lost loved ones to this senseless act of violence. I felt moved, and could no longer sit back and do nothing, so this is my small attempt to show my support from across the miles.
