About this campaign

A May 5th birthday is soon to be just another thing that these two brothers share. Jonathan Terauchi was born on May 5th, 1982 followed by Andrew Terauchi born on May 5th, 1992. Although it seems rare they would share the same birthday exactly 10 years apart, they now feel that maybe there was something bigger than chance at work. Jonathan was diagnosed with a rare progressive and chronic liver disease, "Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis" or "PSC" for short. The disease is classified as an autoimmune disorder that leads to constrictions of the bile ducts and eventually liver failure. To date, there is no actual cure. The only hope is a liver transplant. Jonathan has been dealing with this disease for the 14 years. Over the past few years, the disease showed significant progression that has led to the need for a liver transplant to save Jonathan's life.
For ose of you that know Jon, you would probly say that he is a hdworking father of two who would give anything for his wife and children. Sometimes Jonathan works too hard, but that's only because he is so passionate about his dreams and goals in life. Recently due to very complicated antibiotic resistant infections due to his disease progression, Jonathan's team of doctors at Baylor have decided that it is now time to pursue a living donor liver transplant.
Shortly after Jonathan was listed on the Texas liver transplant list, several friends were eager and began the pre-transplant evaluation to determine eligibility. However, they unable to donate due to medical reasons or incompatible blood types. Andrew pursued the donor work up and was deemed a match. This month in August, both transplant recipient, and the donor were given the green light to proceed with the living donor transplant.
Andrew has always had a giving heart. He looks up to his big brother, and it only seemed natural for him to want to help him in any way that he could. Ts has led to his choice of being a living dor for Jonath. Andrew has aamily of his own which includes his daughter Emersyn and fiancé Ashley. While Jonathan is thankful and grateful for Andrew's decision, there is also a certain feeling of guilt involved because he does not want to put Andrew at risk. Andrew is a hard working RN at a busy Emergency Room in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He has seen how one's decisions can change lives and he has also seen what happens if one chooses to do nothing.

All proceeds from this campaign will go to Andrew and his family to help cover living expenses during his time of healing after the surgery. "We want to show awareness in any way that we can. There are so many ways you can help someone, in my case I'm so thankful that my brother would risk his life to try to save mine." -Jonathan
