1/700 of children are afflicted with cleft and craniofacial conditions, like Alejandra. These facial differences often socially isolate young people, and keep them from finishing school or finding jobs.
In low-income countries, 90% of people don’t have access to basic surgical care, including surgeries to correct these conditions. Families either cannot afford the necessary surgeries and medical care, or these services are not available in their communities.
The cost for surgical repair of a cleft lip or palate is at least $1500. ConnectMed provides surgeries AND crucial follow-up care for free to those who cannot pay. That is why YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS ESSENTIAL!
ConnectMed’s goal is to provide FREE surgeries and crucial follow-up care in underserved communities. This includes:
- surgeries
- speech therapy and OT
- orthodontic care
- mental health counseling
- nutritional counseling
- medical training and education
