Encouraging girls and young women to enter into the fields of science is very important to me. I was fortunate to have a fantastic mentor when entering the IT field and believe everyone(men and women alike) benefit from mentoring
My daughters love all things STEM and in 2nd and 4th grade already deal with the influence of it being a 'masculine' field. It is important that we show girls that women are just as able and influential in these fields.
It's very important to encourage all genders to enter HIT careers.
I have been in HIT for 15 years, but in IT for 34. When I started, there were very few of us in the industry. Many girls did not see IT as a goal or an option. I'd like to see that continue to change.
I want to support young women in HIT, I was one!
