Playground for All

As an elementary special education teacher of students with moderate intellectual disabilities, we are a classroom that teaches more than just academics! My students are not only learning reading and math skills, but the social and functional skills they need to be a great friend and peer. They are also working to strengthen their speech, fine motor, and gross motor skills every day.

One of the greatest ways that my students are able to strengthen all of these skills is on the playground. It is a time where my students can be included with each other and their school-aged peers. It is a common ground for my students and the general education and a time where their disabilities do not have to be an obstacle.

In an effort to continue strengthening the inclusive atmosphere we have in the school, all profit from the t-shirts will be donated to the new playground!
