About this campaign
6 years ago, after going to many jam sessions and poetry events, I got the bright idea to merge the two. I wanted a space for people who loved poetry but wanted a fun atmosphere to perform in. I wanted a space that paid homage to Spoken Word greats like Gil Scott-Heron and the Last Poets. I also wanted to keep it affordable. Being new to New York, I had to do a lot of scouting and networking to find a band, find a couple sponsors, and find a venue, but it happened. On December 4, 2013 the very first episode of The Poet WILL Be Televised was filmed at an art gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn. 5 years later, we’ve gone through so many iterations! We left the art gallery and moved to the Lower East Side, then to Funkadelic Studios in Midtown, and now we’re at Silvana in Harlem! We’re literally moving on up! In addition to our YouTube videos, we also have a podcast based on our show, and we do it all to promote YOU, our supporters! It has been a great ride and we’re happy to finally be hitting a huge milestone, our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! This year is a year to level up! A while back, we got rid of the cover charge at The Poet WILL Be Televised. This has made the event more accessible for all of you who support us, but made it a little harder for the band to reap the benefits of their hard work. This year I would love to be able to throw an amazing 5 year anniversary bash, get a couple new team members for our webseries and give the band a little income boost! You can help by buying a teeshirt, giving a love donation, or sharing our page with your friends! The funds from the sale of teeshirts will only enhance your experience at the show! Plus, they’re cute!

Because Dale is a super dope artist and I'm thrilled to support her!
Love.
Dale is one of the humblest, most talented and hard working women out in the game. I want to do my small pittance for her to know she is supported and appreciated and WILL SUCCEED!!
