About this campaign

IMG_4290JPG

When River Harbin was born with an enlarged heart, the odds of survival were stacked against him. He underwent multiple surgeries on the day he was born and fought to stay alive.

Currently, River is battling the odds again at Riley's Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. He was admitted to Riley's after going into heart failure and was placed on the transplant list as a 1A status (critical). He has underwent multiple surgeries to receive a Ventricular Assistance Device (VAD) for the left side of his heart and an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine for the right side of his heart. While in recovery from his heart procedure, doctors located a brain bleed that needed immediate attention. River then underwent a procedure to relieve pressure built up inside his skull. He is currently listed in critical condition and the road to recovery has begun. Due to medical complications he was removed from the transplant list. After he meets certain criteria, he will again be placed on the transplant list and await his new heart.

River and his family have spent the 2018 Christmas season at Riley's in Indianapolis. They have been away from friends and family supporting River as he fights for his life. This boy has defied all odds and we are all confident that he will continue improving.

Please support the Harbin family during their difficult time of need.
