About this campaign
One year ago I was diagnosed with a rare kidney cancer.I created Driven to Cure to join two of my biggest passions, ca and cancer awareness, and to serve something far greater than myself. According to the American Cancer Society, kidney cancer affects 31,000 Americans annually, killing 11,900 of them. I was told at the time of my diagnosis that I might survive a year or more. I have chosen to fight this horrible disease and to help others inhis process. Driven to Cure’s goal to bring awareness and additional research funding tfind a cure so for rare kidney cancer diseases, including the devopment of the xt generation of drugs to help others. Your generous donation will help to accomplish this goal and will make a difference in the lives ochildren, young adults, antheir families affected byhese diseases.
On May 15th, 2015, at the age of 19, Andrew was diagnosed with stage 4 rare kidney cancer known as HLRCC. He was told he had 6 months to a year to live. Facing a rare cancer with no known cure, he built Driven To Cure, along with the help of his family and friends, in order to raise awareness about rare kidney cancers. Wanting to help others, Andrew also volunteered for 7+ different clinical trials while working on Driven To Cure. Andrew passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2019 surrounded by family and friends at NIH. His last wish was to donate his tissue and kidney to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to further the research of rare kidney cancers like HLRCC. Andrew is helping people even after his life has come to an end, and we can continue to carry forward Andrew's dreams, goals, and his legacy.
