About this campaign

Bruce has always been a man that has helped others, now it is our turn. We are raising money to offset the cost of medical bills, travel, hotels, and the cost of the Bone Marrow Transplant.

UPDATE:
As of right now, we do not know the for sure needs of Bruce. Our needs will not be the same if we go home before the transplant, and return for the transplant. Our hope is that we will be transferred directly to Mott's here in Michigan for the transplant. Food born illness is one of the biggest concerns for Bruce, and he will not be able to eat out, get take out or have food brought in. He is going to be on a strict diet. If you are looking for another way to contribute Kroger gift cards would be beneficial for groceries. Depending on when the transplant takes place, we may need to secure housing in Ann Arbor for over 100 days, but if we go home it will still require visits to the hospital 3 days a week.

Bruce was diagnosed with MDS on September 5, 2019 at the University of Michigan Medical Center. MDS is a blood (cancer) disease that can be treated with medication, blood products, and watched closely depending on the severity of the diagnosis. For Bruce's case, his is aggressive which requires hospital stays, chemotherapy, platelet and blood transfusions. Bruce will have to have a Bone Marrow Transplant in the coming weeks, depending on his health and how he tolerates the chemo. He has to have a Bone Marrow Transplant in order to survive this disease, and not let it lead into AML. AML is one of the most aggressive forms of leukemia there is.

Bruce has started his chemotherapy and are unsure how long he will have to be at the U of M as of now.
Please continue your thoughts and prayers for Bruce and his family.
