NavajoStrong for the Navajo community affected by COVID-19

NavajoStrong was created to aid Navajo families during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis. We are a grassroots community movement that strives to honor our ancestors and empower the Diné by working hard to help citizens who are affected by disease, poverty, and other health disparities on the Navajo Reservation.
Currently, we have served over 350 familes!

My name is Bud Frazier and I am Navajo. When the COVID-19 pandemic started I worried about my relatives on the Navajo reservation. I feared the reservation would struggle to fight this disease due to a lack of access to running water and electricity. I am a registered nurse and spent the first 8 years of my career as an ICU Nurse. I have cared for the sick and dying my entire career. I have followed this disease as closely as anyone else could and when my elderly aunt and uncle died within the same month from complications of COVID-19, I knew I needed to do something. So my family and I created NavajoStrong. During the week we gather essential supplies and water. We then transport it to Blanding, Utah. There we sort, clean, and sanitize the donations.
We create care packages in 27-gallon bins that include essential items such as bleach, hand sanitizer, wipes, soap, masks, and gloves. We also insert educational material about the disease and ways to prevent it in both English and Navajo. We then take these bins with cases of water to those in need, delivering right to their doorstep!
