About this campaign

Growing up, we just assumed "orbisculate" was a word. Our father, Neil Krieger, had been using the term ever since he invented it back in college to describe that moment when you dig your spoon into a grapefruit and it squirts juice directly into your eye. In fact, we only discovered that the word was made up after losing a $5 bet to a friend over whether or not it was in the dictionary.

Our father passed away in April from Covid-19, and this word is hardly the only legacy he left us. He also taught us the value of finding a way to laugh even in dark times; of following your own path; and of making up your own solution to a problem whenever you don't like the ones in front of you.

So we thought a fitting way to honor his memory would be to try to get his word into the dictionary (plus, maybe it would help us get our $5 back). We're launching a campaign to do exactly that, which you can read all about at www.orbisculate.com. Wearing these T-shirts is one fun way to spread the word, and it's also a way to support a wonderful charity.

Carson's Village
is an organization that helps grieving families in the aftermath of losing a loved one, which you can read all about at www.carsonsvillage.org. The charity helps with everything from funeral arrangements to grief counseling. We've gotten to know them over the last few months and see their commitment to helping those in need, so we have decided to give 100% of the proceeds from our T-shirt sales to them.

I was touched by your story. I know what it is like to planning funerals for a parent. Your dad sounds like a wonderful man.

Just wanting to spread the love.

My dad passed from COVID in December 2020. I inherited his love of vocabulary and like you guys, am a word nerd. Huge fan of how you're honoring your dad's memory and supporting a charity.

I love words, creativity, helping good causes, and honoring dads! And this is a birthday present for somebody who likes all the same things!

I love the live and humor shared by your family. And because I have been orbisculated upon many times in my fruit-loving life. Thank you for sharing! The story and the fundraising profits with families in grief and in financial need!

I also love words and thoroughly enjoyed the story of this particular word. What a creative and wonderful way to honor and celebrate a man who was so dearly loved.
