About this campaign
This is our community breast cancer 5K. This race is family-friendly and honors our neighbors who have fought the battle and continue to fight the battle of breast cancer. The donations raised from our T-shirt sales will go to Wind River Retreat in our neighbor Lynnmarie Longo's memory. Wind River is a cancer wellness retreat located in the foothills of Western, North Carolina. The retreat is free for participants and is for those currently suffering from cancer. This beautiful place brought our Lynnmarie so much joy and peace at a time when she needed it most. We want to continue on her memory and legacy at a place that helps so many in our North Carolina community.
We started this race 7 years ago after our neighbor was diagnosed with breast cancer. Each year since we have honored all those in our community who have fought and continue to fight this terrible disease. The race is non-competitive and a great community gathering! The love and support that the survivors feel on race day is amazing. The strength and courage that we get from our survivors is even more amazing! Our community is so special!
