OUR MISSION

We're NerdsVote. And our non-partisan mission is to inspire cosplayers, gamers, pop culture fans, and nerds of all kinds to get involved in their democracy by voting! Our goals are:

1. to spread the word about the importance of voting in local and national elections to our fan bases via social media and personal appearances

2. to signal boost voter registration and information at popular culture conventions across the United States

3. to offer exclusive merch that billboards our cause while benefiting organizations that promote the rights of all citizens to have a voice in our democracy

In short, we're telling fans how vital their vote is - via social media, in person at cons, and by giving them access to the very best NerdsVote swag!

OUR STORY

It all started back in 2018 when, Courtenay Taylor was lamenting to pal Ashly Burch over cheap margaritas that voice actors spend all their time in isolation booths, which makes it difficult to engage people around the importance of getting out the vote. But just then, the tequila kicked in and an idea struck Courtenay: the one place voice actors DO get to hang out with their colleagues and fans (and just lots of human beings in general) is at the time-honored gathering places of nerdfolk: conventions! And no organization was specifically encouraging nerds--the most creative, curious, problem-solving-est, hero-loving people on the planet--to vote! "Ridiculous!" thought Courtenay. "Nerds are the very folks that should be voting!"

Our girl knew she had a good idea but needed help to get it rolling. A signal lit up the night sky and her friends and fellow actors Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (energy! passion!) and JP Karliak (organization! attention to detail!) sprang into action. With their powers combined and Twitter pals weighing in on the name, NerdsVote was born! Now, with the help of our social media guru, Ivy Bryan, and a slew of your favorite popular voice actors (aka “Notable Nerds”), NerdsVote is growing quickly, both online and at conventions all over the country.
