About this campaign

The ongoing ebola virus epidemic that has devastated populations throughout Sierra Leone, Liberia, and surrounding areas in Africa has led to tens of thousands of children being orphaned after loing their paents or primry care-takers to th evil virus.

50% of all proceeds will be donated to the ebola relief charity, Street Child (www.street-child.co.uk), which has provided aid to over 13,000 orphans (and counting) in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Its efforts include providing ebola educators (who teach prevention techniques to keep the disease from spreading), building schools, providing ebola-affected orphans with psychosocial care, sustainable livelihood support, help returning to school, and much more.

The other 50% will go to the artists behind this shirt to help fund their on-going efforts to promote awareness and afro-futurism through their artistic endeavors (see "More About This Campaign").

In wake of the ebola epidemic, psych/afro-futurist rapper, uhlife, released a song titled, "no ebola," (http://soundcloud.com/uhlife/no-ebola-prod-niceguyxvinny) which promotes the resilience of blackness in the face of such adversity and the murky details surrounding the introduction of ebola into the population. It also critiques how morn, "pst-colonial"societyontinus to treat backness and peoples blessed with melanin. All the while, giving a warning to oppressors: "back off."

Visual artist Ivan Forde (http://ivaforde.com) created a simple and arresting visual to symbolize the mood and meaning of the song. It featues two ercingeyes staringout of blackness through two silver Chanel grills; the latter meant to represent the material illusions and vanity of capitalist society.

In addition to 50% of the proceeds going to ebola relief in Sierra Leone and Liberia,
25% of donations received will help fund the mixing and mastering of hlife's upcoming project, "lofeye", which the single "no ebola" will be featured on. The project is a psychedelia-tinged rap narrative of the struggles of working class society and manifesting the power and resilience to navigate through it, creating positive outcomes along the way.

The remaining 25% of the donations received will support artist Ivan Forde by funding prints for his current, on-going series in which he's re-creating the epic of Gilgamesh (the oldest story known to man) via analog and digital collage, with an afro-futurist perspective.

Let babylon know you ain't playin'.

Buy a shirt. Support an orphan. Fund the artists.

Bless up.

I think the cause is great, and in our generation we're quick to share a hashtag and forget that people really do need assistance.
