Team Pink Fortitude

We had already been shopping for rings when I noticed a small lump on my right breast one summer morning. Neither was a surprise, but in 48 hours time, those 8 words, “you have breast cancer,” and “will you marry me?” changed my life forever. I went through surgery, chemo, and radiation. We got married 10 days after treatment ended. (picture is taken right before we left for the Justice of the Peace).

This month, I'm celebrating my 8-year breast cancer survivorversary. I can’t believe how fast these years have come and gone. It’s like I blinked and went from cancer diagnosis to being shy of a decade in the clear. Of course, while going through everything, it felt like the end of the world. But now it’s a distant memory. Crystal clear yet blurry. Life altering. A place I would never want to go back to, but a place I’m extremely glad I came from. I know how devastating a breast cancer diagnosis can be. I also know how expensive it is. We paid $20k out of pocket and that was WITH great insurance. This is why I want to thank Custom Ink for helping me support the National Breast Center Foundation.
