As environmental degradation, resource scarcity, and war, continue to displace more people globally each year, social structures created to deal with migration are struggling to ensure the safety and security of all. In the United States, many nonprofit organizations have been created to fill gaps in service provisions, such as to teach English and basic hygiene skills. With limited budgets, many refugee service providers cannot afford to take on the challenge of organizing, networking, and fundraising on their own.

Refugees Welcome! is a nonprofit organization that focuses on bringing together refugee service providers in the greater Boston area and beyond. It’s mission is to provide a platform for refugee organizations, advocate for the expansion of refugee services, and fill any financial gaps through direct fundraising and our Fresh Start Awards.

To assist refugee service providers, Refugees Welcome! focuses on four thematic program areas; advocacy, the refugees welcome network, education and Fresh Start Awards. As a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization, Refugees Welcome! has the ability to lobby on the behalf of service providers at the local and national level.

Advocating for the expansion of refugee services, our network assists service providers with determining programmatic gaps, chances for collaboration, and joint fundraising opportunities. Spreading awareness, Refugees Welcome! works with academics, students, and researchers to help solve the most pressing issues in migration. In addition, Refugees Welcome! provides a select number of refugees with financial assistance that is beyond the mandate of basic service providers. Our Fresh Start awards assists with family reunification, healthcare costs, training and university support.
