About this campaign

We are raising funds to purchase needed equipment to provide the necessary emergency services to the St. Elmo Irvington community. Year after year, prices increase. We are raising funds to make up for those increasing prices. 100% of the funds raised will be used for equipment, training and emergency services support.

St. Elmo Irvington Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1979 with a small group of volunteers and a single donated truck that was kept in a volunteer's barn. Over the years, a station was built on Half Mile Road on generously donated land. Additionally, other donated or loaned trucks were used to provide emergency services. As time passed, the community and population grew, and the Fire Department had to grow with it. With assistance of some well-established community involvement, Station 2 on Dodge Road was donated by the St. Elmo Improvement association. With donated materials and countless volunteer man hours the old Quonset Hut was transformed into a working fire station. Around this same time a state recognized fire district was voted in providing much needed funds to enable the department to purchase new needed trucks and equipment to provide emergency services to the growing community. As the years have gone, the fire district funding has maintained the department as one on the best equipped in the area, and fundraisers have helped lighten the load on budgets. From the beginning fundraisers have been the main stay of the department to provide supplemental funds to continue providing top rate emergency services to the St. Elmo Irvington community.
